APGA candidate cries out over non-release of judgment copy

 APGA
All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Senatorial candidate for Abia Central in the National Assembly elections held on March 28, 2015, Chief Emmanuel Ahamdi Nweke has cried out over the refusal of the Abia Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia to give him a copy of the judgment in his petition to enable him challenge the ruling of the Tribunal at the Court of Appeal. Recall that the judgments of the Tribunal as it concerns Abia North and Abia Central senatorial zones spark off protests in the state, with ripple effect peaceful demonstrations in some states in the United States by Abia State natives, accusing the Nigerian Judiciary of giving ‘justice to the highest bidder. He questioned why judgment in his petition was delivered longhand despite the fact that it was the first hearing concluded by the Tribunal and complained why “one week after the incredibly biased ruling the Judge has refused to approve copy of his own judgment handed to him. Onigbanjo of Lagos High Court, to challenge the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) returning of the immediate past Governor of Abia State, Chief Theodore Ahamefule Orji as winner of the Abia Central Senatorial District elections which he (Nweke) said he won. Olalere further informed him that judgment in his petition was handwritten and delivered longhand instead of typed unlike the other judgments delivered by the same Tribunal. Fearing there might be unjust alterations to the wording of the judgment as originally delivered in open court,  The APGA candidate lamented that after the judgment on October 13, 2015 he immediately applied for a copy of the judgment to enable him proceed to the Court of Appeal. Nweke said it was unfortunate that despite glaring facts adduced  by his counsels in support of his claim of being the winner of the election and for the fact that the respondent and INEC did not comply with the law in their defence of the matter, that the Tribunal gave judgment in favour of the respondent which he said was a travesty of justice that has brought the Judiciary into disrepute.
