Kano State police command has arrested 28 suspects in connection with the pockets of violence that occurred in different parts of the state following the presidential rally of the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

While thugs allegedly attacked the residence of the APC Chairman, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi in the day, at dusk, thugs also allegedly attacked the offices of the PDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf.

Speaking to the press on Monday, the new police boss who had just resumed in the state said that his men had flagged off a detailed investigation into the acts of thuggery and arson that were recorded in the state in the wake of the recent political event, assuring that the police would arrest the perpetrators and whoever was behind their disturbing exploits.

“We mean business. We are not here to joke; we are not here to look for money and we are not here to look for fame. We are here to work for Kano people and our primary responsibility is to protect lives and property. Once a life is lost, it is as if the whole of humanity is gone,” he declared.

“We have drawn a line and I promise you that we will reach the conclusion of this investigation,” he stated angrily while regretting that the political class has since turned the very peace accord they signed in to a child’s play

The commissioner of police appealed to the leaders, stakeholders, and parents in the state to join hands with the police in fighting the scourge of drug abuse currently ravaging the youths of the state, saying that most of the nefarious activities that were committed by the political thugs were exercised with the support of drugs.

He charged the religious leaders to preach against violence and drugs in their sermons just as he said that they should pray for violent-free elections in the state.
