Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal were drawn into different groups for the upcoming ATP Finals, it was announced on Wednesday.

Djokovic, a 5-time champion at the event, is in a loaded Red Group with fellow former winners Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev plus Andrey Rublev.

Nadal, who has never won the ATP Finals, is the overall top seed and fell in the weaker Green Group with Casper Ruud, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Taylor Fritz. Both Auger-Aliassime and Fritz are making their debuts at the ATP Finals while Ruud made the semifinals last year.

A subplot to the event is the No. 1 ranking. Current leader Carlos Alcaraz has ended his season so Nadal can return to No. 1 by reaching the final (against someone than an undefeated Tsitsipas) while former champion Tsitsipas must win the title undefeated to reach No. 1. Otherwise, the teen finishes No. 1.

Nadal and Alcaraz could actually be tied at the end of the event with the breaker and the No. 1 ranking going to Rafa.

It’s 200 points per round robin win, 400 points for semifinal wins and 500 for winning the final. Nadal trails Alcaraz by exactly 1,000 points.

The event begins on Sunday in Turin, Italy.
