All is now set for the campaign train of President Muhammadu Buhari to roll into Yola, as he continues his re-election bid.
Ribadu Square, the venue of the rally is filled to capacity and students are seen carrying both APC and Nigeria’s flag in anticipation of the president’s arrival.
The Adamawa State governor, Muhammed, Umaru Jibrilla Bindow has already received the president at the Yola International Airport.
Buhari’s campaign in Adamawa would undoubtedly present an interesting political narrative as Adamawa State is home to his main rival in the 2019 poll, the former vice president of Nigeria and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Adamawa is also home to Buhari’s outspoken wife, Aisha and also home to the current Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
Adamawa State is also an interesting presidential battlefield as it is also home to the FCT Minister, Muhammed Bello and the current Director of field operations of the Buhari campaign council, Nuhu Ribadu.
Adamawa State has, however, been a PDP stronghold for the past 16 years and the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the PDP has triggered a fierce battle for the about 1.9 million votes which are up for grabs on February 16, 2019.
