Joel Popoola’s new patriotic task

In the midst of the seeming gloom and doom about Nigeria, the flagging faith of citizens in the system and her negative image abroad, some Nigerians are still accorded huge recognition and respect across the world for their industry and integrity.

They are the ones who still make the outside world believe that Nigeria is not all about negativity. They are the Nigerians who make being called a Nigerian worth its weight in gold. Among this enviable crop is Joel Oyeyinka Popoola, a Nigerian-born British tech entrepreneur and founder, Rate Your Leader, a global online platform which helps politicians to engage only with voters in their constituencies in an abuse-proof way. The technology allows elected leaders to truly understand what matters most to the people who elect them while allowing the people to identify and contact their representatives at the touch of a button, direct from their phones or tablets. The App, which also allows people to check if they are registered to vote and identify their elected representatives at the touch of a button, is free to download from the App store and other App marketplaces.

After conquering the worlds of banking and entrepreneurship with his AACLE LTD, a world-class enterprise solution hub focused on empowering Nigerian youths through the provision of S-M-A-R-T solutions to educational, health and business challenges, Popoola said with Rate Your Leader, he is on a mission to bridge the gap between politicians and the electorate.

Launched recently in Nigeria to connect politicians with verified local electors using abuse-proof technology, Rate Your Leader aims to take back democracy with technology and allow politicians to really engage with the people they serve.

A trained accountant and Masters degree holder in Managerial Psychology  from the University of Ibadan, a member of Tech London Advocates, and an Advanced Member of The Institutes of Directors, Popoola’s desire to see the execution of the best of elections led to the creation of the Nigerian Democracy App, which he further described as a technology dedicated to correcting the inability and unwillingness of social media giants to crack down on the bots-and-troll that has had an adverse effect on their users, politicians and even global democracy.
