Hajia Titi Abubakar, wife of the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, assured that her husband has the capacity to turn Nigeria around for the better if elected as president.
She described her husband, as the only presidential candidate that has the capacity to turn things around for the good of the country and would always do the right thing if voted into power.
Mrs Abubakar who stated this in Makurdi, Benue State, during the PDP Women Presidential Campaign rally in the state, posited that as a former vice president of the country, her husband is well vast in knowledge of the challenges confronting the country and is armed with all the answers to them.
“He is a job creator, an economist, an educationist and a philanthropist who has a lot of compassion for the country. He wants Nigeria to start working again and that explains why he is vying for the position.
”I urge you to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) and vote in the PDP. Do not allow members of the APC to deceive you. Do not mortgage your votes.
”If you mortgage your votes, you are automatically mortgaging your future and that of your children and your unborn generations. A vote for PDP is a vote for development at all levels,” she said.
Governor Ortom, in his speech said Atiku Abubakar is the only presidential candidate with the capacity to liberate the country from ignorance, disease and the like.
”He has been tested and is trusted. As a result of this and other sundry reasons, Benue people are prepared to vote him en masse. Benue remains for him and other PDP candidates,” he said.
The governor who lamented that insecurity was the topmost challenge the state was bedevilled with in recent times, expressed confidence in the ability of Atiku to fix the challenges when he becomes president.
He said that development cannot take place in a chaotic environment hence the need to nip insecurity in the state in the bud to pave way for development.
He said that nobody would be given the chance to rig election in the state no matter the circumstances, stressing that every vote must count.
The wife of the Benue State governor, Mrs Eunice Ortom, informed Abubakar that Benue women were full of hope having seen the blue print of her husband, Atiku.
”Our president in waiting has made adequate provision of 40 percent for women mainstreaming in governance,” she said.
Also, wife of the former governor of the state, Mrs Yemisi Suswam, enjoined the people to vote for all PDP candidates during the general elections, adding that they should also guard their votes against manipulations.
Also speaking, the PDP Women Leader, Mrs Abeji Egwa, assured Hajia Abubakar that her husband would get block votes from Benue State.
Egwa who posited that Benue State was 100 percent PDP, promised that all Benue women would vote overwhelmingly for all the party’s candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Others who spoke included the first woman chairman in Benue, Mrs Keziah Agundu, first female speaker, Benue House of Assembly, Mrs Margaret Icheen and Mrs Rebecca Apedzan, a former commissioner in the state. They all assured that the PDP had already won the forthcoming polls, stressing that they were only waiting for the celebration which would come in a few weeks.
They commended Mrs. Abubakar for personally visiting Benue, pointing out that her visit would yield the necessary dividends during the forthcoming polls especially with the hard work of the state governor, Samuel Ortom and his wife for the victory of the party at all levels.
They urged all the youths in Benue to support the PDP and ensure its victory at all levels as according to them, PDP is the only party that could take them off the streets.
”Your joblessness will end as soon as the PDP ascends the throne. Your vote for PDP will be for your overall good,” he said.
On her part, wife of the former Senate President, Mrs Helen Mark, said that with the support given PDP so far, Atiku and other PDP candidates could go to sleep as victory would smile at them during the polls.
She further assured that Atiku would run an inclusive government where all and sundry would be given a sense of belonging.
”He would ensure that the dividends of democracy trickled down to all Nigerians irrespective of party and religious affiliations,” she said.
