U.S. President Donald Trump says his administration will release a new executive order on immigration next week to — in his words — “comprehensively protect our country.”
Trump’s original order restricted immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries. It led to massive protests and was put on hold by a federal appeals court.
“The new executive order is being tailored to the decision we got down from the court,” Trump said at a news conference at the White House on Thursday, referring to an appeals court decision that confirmed a temporary stay on the original executive order.
“We can get just about everything, in some ways more, but we’re tailoring it to the decision.”
