A former presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Charles Udeogaranya, has urged Nigerians to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing them as their weapon against bad governance.
He noted that the items remain the electorate’s power to vote out the present APC administration at the centre.
“In about four years of the Buhari regime, hunger like never before has been sweeping through the length and breadth of the nation. No one is exempted except perhaps President Buhari and his family members and appointees.
“It is my considered opinion, therefore, that the president is using hunger alongside other tactics as a weapon to compel Nigerians to buy into his agenda for the nation. This must not be allowed to continue. In order to halt this trend, the president has to be voted out of office likewise other bad leaders.
“Our PVCs are the weapon we have right now; it is our power to choose the rightful leaders and reject the bad ones.
“Every Nigerian, whether from the Middle Belt or North East or North West or South East should be appalled by the unjustified killings of our dear brothers and sisters by the Fulani terrorist herdsmen especially in the north-central parts of the country.
“Unfortunately, President Buhari’s refusal to show acceptable commitment towards upholding the constitutional provision by adequately securing the lives and properties of Nigerians living in those areas must not be allowed to repeat itself. So the right thing to do now is for Nigerians to vote him out with their PVCs.
“Buhari’s appointment of security chiefs from his sect and his sleeplessness for having to work with a judge from the South-South is a profound attestation of the agenda he will unveil if he is re-elected. That is why Nigerians should save themselves the looming danger of allowing the current administration to return.”
On the imperative of voting People’s Democratic Party (PDP’s) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, he said: “The North East is yet to produce a democratically-elected president apart from the late Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa.
“The North East is the most impoverished region of the country at the moment. I believe that in the circumstances we find ourselves, Alhaji Atiku Abubarka of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) remains the only viable alternative; and he should have our vote as a stitch in time saves nine.”
